2011 seems to be a fast-moving year, January is gone and I have some news to share with you . First of all, the business challenge at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology – Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation – was an excellent learning experience. We are more confident than ever that our business case is strong and we┬┤re also glad to find a group of new friends from all over the world in our network. Moreover, relevant contacts to potential future negotiations with BASF and KIC Innoenergy were established. The Pamoja Cleantech team is gratetful for a wonderful experience. Big thanks to the organisation team and congratulations to the winning teams from South Africa, Germany and China.

I am quite thrilled over the recent developments for our startup. Our research programme with Aalto University/ Product development department and KTH/ Sustainable Energy department has kicked off. The students involved for this year have great spirit and I am extremely excited to see what we can achieve together. More info to come about the research team. Meanwhile, welcome aboard Irena, John, Federico and Vinod. The team will work jointly with students from Makerere University to complete tests and thesis work on topics to improve our concept for rural electrification – “Sprouts of Sustainability”

Fundraising efforts are continuously being carried out. I am quite optimistic that we can reach our goals for this year and start the full phase of building the first renewable micro power plant. In January we were co-applicants with Shalin Ry from Finland for the Nordic Climate Facility application on Renewable Energy. Also, the team completed an application for the AECF – REACT competition window for East Africa. The fundraising process is continous and I will keep you posted on the next steps.
